Neologism Alert!

What’s with this “Areal” Flood Watch that the National Weather Service is reporting? When did it become necessary to add an L to area in order to use it as an adverb?

Or do we have a spelling problem here? Perhaps I should check to see if the satellite radios in the cars are working.


NOAA Forecast Indicates Increase in Hurricanes This Season

MIAMI — Federal forecasters on Thursday upgraded their outlook for this Atlantic hurricane season to include two more named storms than previously predicted.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration projects an 85 percent probability of an above-normal season — up from 65 percent in May.
