The Jesus Bird

I recall being shown by my father, when I was very young, a big bird with a light beak and red head about which he was really excited. We were at the edge of an old-growth lowland forest. Did I see one of the last Jesus Birds (as in “Oh Sweet Jesus!)? I’ll never know. It drives me nuts.
