C.I.A. Chief Says Qaeda at Weakest Point in Years

C.I.A. Chief Says Qaeda at Weakest Point in Years – NYTimes.com

WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. has driven al-Qaida into hiding and undermined its leadership, but is struggling to oust its primary sympathizer, the Taliban, from Afghanistan, the nation’s spymaster said Sunday.

Who was it who said never to get involved in a land war in Asia?  Was it Gen. MacArthur talking about Vietnam?  Those youngsters never listen…

It even has the Gray Lady confused.  In the second paragraph, the writer states that we’re depending on “98,000 U.S. troops to prop up the Afghan government and prevent al-Qaida from returning.”  Aren’t we fighting the Taliban in Afghanistan, or did I miss something?

Got an opinion? Keep it clean. Don't ask open-ended questions, like "Does the Pope belong to a coven?" Make it pertinent.
