Y’know what bothers me?

I see so many young people nowadays looking frazzled, tired — just plain weary. What’s that about?

I’m going on 66, diabetic, hypertensive and -lipic (all controlled, thanks for asking), and I don’t get nearly enough exercise, yet I’m not weary.  I may not hit the ground running like I used to, but by the time I’ve been awake for an hour or so I’m up to speed and gettin’ it done.

I’m not bragging, I’m just wondering.  What is it with young people, a third my age, who look as though they have the weight of the world on their shoulders?  And regardless of the answer, what can be done about it?  It’s just not right for people with their lives ahead of them to be looking that way.

  1. I think the young people are feeling some depression. It must be worse in the US. Here we have men and women “peacekeepers” getting blown up but we aren’t actually at war. Also, the real estate market is awful in the US, empty houses abandoned and being pulled apart by vandals. I’m sure some areas are less affected than others. Everywhere people are talking about the environment and debating how long we have to still fix it before one disaster or another smites us down. Young people discuss the news/ current events. In school they analyze cause and effects and predict outcomes. I think they do feel they have the weight of the world on their shoulders. They are the next generation, the ones who will have to deal with the future. Overall, that must be depressing. My nephew is 14 and just in his first year of high school. He still has lots of energy.

Got an opinion? Keep it clean. Don't ask open-ended questions, like "Does the Pope belong to a coven?" Make it pertinent.
