Oyster Roundup: Wild and Wooly Conservation Action in Cedar Key

As the sun rose over Corrigan’s Reef, a floating, 27-vessel skiff and
bird-dog village waited for the state boat to signal the beginning of
what amounts to a Cedar Key-style rodeo with bushels of oysters and
boats instead of horses, barrels and ropes. Oyster planting is not for
the faint of heart. For next three hours, boats raced at speeds up to
70 miles an hour to relay oysters from the bars to the Sheephead Hole
before the daily limit of bushels was reached.  –  Cedar Key Beacon Online – News
